Frequently Asked Questions About Pensacola Dog Grooming:

  1. How long does the grooming process usually take? We estimate an average of four hours for a complete grooming session. However, various factors, such as the size of your pet, the condition of their coat, and any special handling requirements, can affect the duration. If you require an expedited service, we can arrange a specific time slot, but please note that an additional $20 express charge may apply.

  2. How much does grooming cost? The cost varies depending on factors such as breed, coat condition, and individual temperament. Please note that de-matting may incur an additional cost.

  3. Do you bathe the pet before grooming? Yes, we always bathe the pet as part of the grooming process to ensure a clean and even haircut. Depending on the breed and style, the groomer may perform a "rough cut" before washing and drying the pet completely. We use hydrating shampoos, and if necessary, we can also apply a conditioner to enhance your pet's coat.

  4. Can you groom my pet to the breed standard? Our groomers are experienced in working with various breeds and are familiar with breed standards. We can groom your pet to the breed standard or discuss alternative styles that suit your preferences. We recommend reviewing your breed's specific grooming guidelines and or bring a picture as a reference for your groomer.

  5. What if my pet's hair is knotted? Matting is unhealthy for your pet's skin, and we recommend addressing it promptly. We can attempt to "de-mat" the coat, although this process may be time-consuming and potentially uncomfortable for your pet. If necessary, we may suggest cutting the hair short to remove the mats. Our groomers can meet with you beforehand to discuss the best approach for your pet.

  6. Can I request the same groomer each time? We understand the importance of building trust and maintaining consistency for nervous pets. If you prefer the same groomer, we will do our best to accommodate your request and foster a positive relationship between the groomer, pet, and owner.

  7. Can I watch the grooming process? While we value transparency, it's essential to maintain a safe and stress-free environment for both your pet and our groomers. You are welcome to peek from a distance, but constant observation can cause distractions and potential hazards. In-home grooming may be a suitable alternative if you prefer to closely observe the process.

  8. Can I bring in a picture of the desired style? Absolutely! We encourage you to share your vision with us, and our groomers will work closely with you to achieve the desired result.

  9. Do you cut the nails? Yes, we offer nail trimming for most dogs. Long nails can lead to various issues, and regular trimming is crucial for your pet's well-being. However, if your dog requires specialized nail care, we recommend consulting a veterinarian.

  10. What are anal glands, and do you address them during grooming? Anal glands are scent sacs located near a dog's tail. Some dogs naturally empty them, while others may require assistance. If needed, our groomers can check and express the anal glands during the bath or grooming session at no additional cost.
