Frequently Asked Questions About Dog Boarding
What vaccinations are required?
Dogs must be current on rabies, distemper/parvo, and Bordetella vaccines before boarding. Shots must be administered at least 10 days prior to drop-off. Please provide current vaccination records before your dog’s stay. Email them to cainsdoghouse@gmail.com
How often will my dog go outside?
Guests receive a minimum of four to six individual outdoor potty or activity breaks each day. The schedule may vary based on weather, your dog’s needs, and the daily routine.
Do dogs participate in group play?
No. We do not use large group play. Dogs receive individual outdoor time and personal attention from our staff instead.
What are your drop-off and pickup times?
Drop-off and pickup are available during our posted business hours. To help avoid delays, we recommend arriving after 8:00 a.m. and completing drop-off before 4:00 p.m.
What happens if my dog becomes ill?
We will contact you or your designated emergency contact and follow the instructions provided in your boarding agreement.
Can you administer medication?
Yes. We can administer many routine medications when they are provided in their original containers with clear written instructions. Contact us before boarding to discuss specialized medical needs. We cannot administer injectable medications, including insulin.
Can my dogs stay together?
In many cases, yes. We will help determine the appropriate arrangement based on the dogs’ size, relationship, comfort, and available suite space. If your dogs have a history of aggression towards each other or are food aggressive and cannot eat in the same space, other arrangements may be needed.
What should I bring for meals and bedding?
You may bring your dog’s regular prebagged food and approved comfort items. Cain’s also provides bowls, bedding, and Science Diet dog food when needed.
Are there any additional boarding fees?
We do not charge holiday surcharges or separate fees for routine medication administration or individual outdoor time.
Are your accommodations traditional dog kennels or private rooms?
Dogs stay in private indoor suites with individual attention and frequent outdoor breaks.

I cannot say enough good things about this place! I board both my dogs here frequently and the staff has always been so kind and helpful and treated my dogs like their own. One of my dogs had never boarded before and was nervous going there the first few times but now he jumps out of the car and races to get in there, he’s so excited! My other dog is older (13 years) and they take such good care of her and making her comfortable. We are so glad we found Cains!
